Are you someone with?

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, or equivalent) – preferred

  • Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience, preferably within financial services industry

  • Financial planning and analysis 

  • Regulatory compliance and risk management

Key Responsibilities


Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and supporting schedules to ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and up to date.

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and reporting schedules in accordance with internal deadlines and reporting requirements.

  • Review and analyse income, expenditure, balance sheet movements, and financial performance to identify variances and provide clear explanations.

  • Monitor cash flow, bank balances, and reconciliations to support effective cash management and accurate financial reporting.

  • Support budget preparation, budget tracking, and variance analysis by providing accurate financial data and timely reporting insights.

  • Assist with the preparation of year-end financial reports, audit schedules, and supporting documentation for external audit and management review.


Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with PNG statutory reporting requirements, including tax, superannuation, regulatory filings, and other applicable financial obligations.

  • Prepare, review, and maintain supporting documentation for statutory returns, audit requests, regulatory reviews, and internal compliance checks.

  • Support the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of financial controls, accounting procedures, approval processes, and internal reporting requirements.

  • Identify accounting, compliance, or control issues and escalate them promptly with recommended corrective actions where appropriate.

  • Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, responding to audit queries, and ensuring records are complete, accurate, and audit ready.


Operational Support

  • Support the day-to-day processing and review of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely recording.

  • Prepare, post, and review journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and month-end accounting entries in line with approved procedures.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and follow up on outstanding items to support accurate financial reporting.

  • Maintain accurate financial data, records, and supporting documentation for reporting, audit, compliance, and management review purposes.

  • Provide practical accounting and operational support to the Manager, Accounts and Administration, Finance Manager, and relevant internal teams as required.


Stakeholder Support

  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisers, banks, and regulators as required

  • Support internal stakeholders with financial information and financial data analysis

  • Internal: Finance Manager, Executive Management, Risk & Compliance

  • External: Auditors, Consultants, Service providers, regulators.
